Why we exist
The upload step was always the weak link
SwiftPDFEdit started with an uncomfortable observation: the documents people run through online PDF converters — contracts, medical records, pay slips, immigration papers — are among the most sensitive files they own. And the standard workflow was to upload them to a stranger's server and hope the "deleted after 2 hours" banner was true.
Modern browsers made that bargain obsolete. Today's web platform can parse, render and rewrite PDFs at native speed, entirely on the user's device. So we built the PDF suite we wanted to exist: one where the engine ships to you, your files stay with you, and the experience feels like a premium desktop application rather than a converter form from 2009.
Today SwiftPDFEdit offers 21 focused tools and a full visual editor, built for consultants, operations teams, property managers, students and anyone else who touches documents for a living. Everything processes client-side. That is not a feature — it is the founding constraint the whole product is designed around.
Principles
Three rules we design against
Every product decision gets checked against these before it ships.
Privacy is architecture, not policy
Promises can be broken; architectures can't. By processing every document on the user's own device, we removed ourselves from the trust equation entirely. We cannot read, store or lose what we never receive.
Craft over feature count
A tool you use forty times a week deserves the polish of the best consumer software: instant feedback, forgiving undo, keyboard shortcuts, dark mode that isn't an afterthought. We ship fewer things, better.
A genuinely useful free tier
The free plan isn't a crippled demo — it's the core tools, the editor and signatures, with no watermarks. Pro and Premium add power features (the full editor, OCR, AI, conversions, teams) for people who need them, never paywalling the basics.

Five things we will never do
Not a values statement — a list of specific behaviours the architecture and the business model make unnecessary.
- Upload your document to a server in order to process it.
- Stamp a watermark on free output to embarrass you into upgrading.
- Sell, rent or broker your personal data to anybody.
- Train machine-learning models on the files you work with.
- Print a customer count, a star rating or a logo wall we can't substantiate.
