Convert PDF to PNG images

SwiftPDFEdit's PDF to PNG converter renders each page of a PDF as a lossless PNG image at the scale you select. Because PNG compression is lossless, small type and thin lines survive the conversion exactly as they were drawn, with none of the compression haloes that JPEG leaves around sharp edges.

That makes PNG the right export whenever the page is mostly text or line art: a documentation screenshot, a diagram going into a slide deck, a form that a support agent needs to mark up, a certificate for a web page, or a design review where colour banding would be mistaken for a bug.

Pick the render scale by where the image will be seen. 1× is roughly 72 DPI and suits thumbnails and previews; 2× is about 144 DPI and is the sensible default for screens and presentations; 3× is around 216 DPI and holds up when the image will be printed or zoomed. There is no quality slider, because PNG is lossless — scale alone determines sharpness and file size.

The trade-off against JPG is size. A lossless render of a photographic page can be several times larger than the JPG equivalent, so use PNG for text and graphics and JPG for photographs. You can also restrict the render to specific pages, which keeps a long report from producing 300 large images when you needed four.

Pages are rendered as they appear, including any background the document defines; pages without an explicit background render on white rather than transparent, which is what almost every downstream use expects. Everything runs locally in your browser tab, with live progress on longer documents, and nothing is ever transmitted.
