Split a PDF into separate files

SwiftPDFEdit's Split PDF tool cuts a single PDF into several smaller PDFs along page ranges that you define, such as “1-3, 4-9, 10”. Each range becomes its own downloadable file, the source document is left untouched, and the whole operation happens inside your browser.

Splitting earns its keep when one file is really several documents: a scanner that produced a single 200-page batch of invoices, a board pack where each section goes to a different reviewer, a contract where only the signature pages need to travel, or a bank statement archive that should be filed one month at a time.

The tool reads the document as soon as you drop it in and shows the page count, so you can write ranges with confidence. Ranges are inclusive, may be single pages, and may overlap — if page 1 is a cover sheet that belongs on every output file, simply include it in every range. Each output PDF is built by copying the selected page objects verbatim, so nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed.

Files download individually, named after the source document with a “-part-1”, “-part-2” suffix, which keeps a large split organised in your downloads folder. If you would rather pull a handful of pages into one new document instead of chopping the file into pieces, use Extract PDF Pages — that is the same underlying operation with a different output shape.

Two caveats. A password-protected PDF must be unlocked before it can be split, because an encrypted file cannot be parsed. And bookmarks that point to pages in a different part of the document naturally stop resolving once those pages live in another file — that is inherent to splitting, not a defect.
