Extract pages from a PDF

SwiftPDFEdit's Extract PDF Pages tool copies the pages you select out of a PDF and assembles them into a single new document, leaving the original file untouched. You name the pages — individually, as ranges, or a mix of both — and the extracted PDF downloads straight from your browser.

Extraction is the tool to reach for when only part of a document is relevant to the person receiving it: three pages of a fifty-page report, the two schedules a lawyer asked for, a single certificate buried in a scanned bundle. Sending only what is needed is faster, kinder to the reader, and often the safer choice when the rest of the document is confidential.

Pages are copied at the object level, so extraction is completely lossless: fonts, images, vector artwork and page dimensions arrive identical to the source. The pages are placed in the order you list them, which means extraction doubles as a quick way to build a re-sequenced excerpt — entering “5, 1, 3” produces exactly that order rather than sorting the numbers for you.

Extract differs from Split in the shape of its output. Extract gives you one new PDF containing your selection; Split gives you several files, one per range. It differs from Delete Pages in direction: extracting keeps what you name, deleting removes what you name. For a document where you want to keep most pages, deleting the few unwanted ones is usually less typing.

As with every SwiftPDFEdit tool, extraction runs in your browser, so a confidential bundle never crosses the network and there is no server-side copy to worry about. Encrypted PDFs need to be unlocked first, since an encrypted file cannot be read until it has been decrypted.
