Privacy Policy

Effective Plain English, ~4 minutes

The short version

SwiftPDFEdit processes your documents entirely within your web browser. We do not receive, transmit, store, or have any access to the files you work with — with one exception you control: a finished document you explicitly choose to save to My Documents. The remainder of this policy describes the limited non-document data we handle to operate the website.

1. Your documents

When you use any SwiftPDFEdit tool or the editor, your files are opened and processed by code running locally on your device. Document contents are never sent to our servers in order to be processed, and never to any third party. While you are working, files exist only in your browser's memory and are released when you close the tab. The one exception is deliberate and initiated by you: if you press Done to file a finished PDF in My Documents, that document is uploaded to your account so you can find it again, and it stays there until you delete it. Apart from documents you save that way, we have no technical ability to view, recover, or retain your files.

2. Information we do collect

  • Server logs. Like virtually every website, our hosting infrastructure records standard request logs (IP address, user agent, requested page, timestamp) for security and reliability. Logs are retained for 30 days and then deleted.
  • Aggregate analytics. We measure page views and tool usage counts in aggregate (for example, "the merge tool was used N times today") to understand what to improve. This telemetry never includes file contents, file names, or document metadata.
  • Documents you choose to save. If you press Done to file a finished PDF in My Documents, that document is stored in your account until you delete it. Nothing else you open is stored.
  • Contact email. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence to answer you and improve support.
  • Account data. Using the tools requires a free account, for which we collect an email address and your plan. If you subscribe to a paid tier we also hold billing records processed by our payment provider. We never see full card numbers.

3. Cookies and local storage

We use local storage for functional preferences only — your theme choice (light or dark) and editor settings. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not participate in cross-site tracking. Because these are strictly functional, no cookie banner theater is required or shown.

4. What we never do

  • We never upload or inspect the documents you process, and we never store any document you have not explicitly saved.
  • We never sell or share personal data with advertisers.
  • We never use your files or data to train machine-learning models.
  • We never require payment details to create an account or to use the free plan.

5. Legal bases and your rights

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we process the limited data above on the bases of legitimate interest (site security and improvement) and contract (accounts and paid subscriptions). You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing. Because we hold so little, requests are usually resolved quickly — email [email protected].

6. Children

SwiftPDFEdit is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

7. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for material changes, note it prominently on the site. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
