About PDF to JPG
SwiftPDFEdit's PDF to JPG converter renders each page of a PDF as a separate JPG image at the resolution and quality you choose. Rendering runs on your own device using the same PDF engine that powers our editor, so the images are faithful to how the document actually looks — fonts, vector art and all.
Turning pages into images is the answer whenever a system will accept a picture but not a document: a social post or slide that needs a page as artwork, a marketplace listing that only takes JPGs, a support ticket where a screenshot of the invoice is quicker than an attachment, or a website form that insists on an image upload.
Resolution is the setting that matters most. 1× renders at roughly 72 DPI, which is fine for a thumbnail; 2× gives about 144 DPI and is the right default for anything viewed on a screen; 3× reaches roughly 216 DPI and is close to print quality. Higher scales mean sharper type and proportionally larger files — a 3× render of an A4 page is around 1,700 × 2,500 pixels. Quality controls the JPEG encoder separately: Good for small files, High as a balanced default, Maximum when artefacts around text would be unacceptable.
Choose JPG when the page is photographic or mixed, and PNG when it is mostly text, line art or flat colour — JPEG's compression puts visible haloes around sharp black-on-white edges, while PNG stays crisp at a larger file size. You can convert a whole document or restrict the render to specific pages with a range such as “1-3, 7”, which is much faster for a long report.
One thing to be clear about: converting to JPG rasterises the page. The result is pixels, so text is no longer selectable, searchable or editable, and the change is one-way. Keep the original PDF — SwiftPDFEdit never modifies it — if you might need the text back.
